Accusations mount against Junior Natabou, young Beninese entrepreneur

Numerical ascent marred by multiple denunciations

Junior Natabou, 21, had established himself as a rising figure in Benin’s e-commerce industry. Founder of online training programs, he was for many a model of success. Today, this inspiring face is giving way to growing controversy. On social networks and with the authorities, numerous testimonies from alleged victims are emerging, denouncing broken promises and even fraudulent practices.

Complaints now in the hands of the authorities

The case is no longer limited to digital exchanges. Several complainants have officially referred the matter to the Centre National d’Investigations Numériques (CNIN). They allege payments for services never provided, lengthy delays and a blatant lack of communication. Among the emblematic cases, Débora Dannon’s case is particularly noteworthy: after paying 129,380 FCFA to set up an offshore company, she claims not to have received any services.

An image built on a presidential misunderstanding?

Another element fuelling the controversy is a photo dating from 2017 showing Junior Natabou at President Patrice Talon’s side. Long used to establish his legitimacy, this image was, according to the Beninese presidency, unrelated to his entrepreneurial career. It simply marked recognition of his academic performance in the BEPC exam. Serge Nonvignon, a member of the presidential cell, clarified this point, alerting the public to the possibility of a “dream salesman”.

Junior Natabou defends himself and rejects the accusations

In a message posted on Facebook on April 6, 2025, Junior Natabou firmly refutes the accusations. He refers to “technical delays” affecting a minority of customers (less than 2% according to him) and insists on the solidity of his business, which is said to have more than 5,000 learners each year. He assures us that he still lives in Benin, is in contact with his lawyers and responds to court summonses.

Conclusion: The Natabou affair, revealing the excesses of digital notoriety

Beyond the case of Junior Natabou, this case raises a broader question: that of the fragility of reputations built online. In a world where image on social networks can be a guarantee of credibility, but also of illusion, the line between real success and marketing is sometimes thin. As the legal proceedings continue, the future of the digital entrepreneur seems to hang on the outcome of the investigations… and the justice of Internet users.
