An Official Rejection by the Somali Authorities
On Friday, the Somali authorities formally denied rumors that they had been asked to take in Palestinians from Gaza. Mohamed Mohamed Elmi Afrah, a Somali politician, said the country would not accept such a proposal, pointing out that neighboring Arab countries such as Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia were already heavily involved in defending the Palestinians.

Donald Trump’s proposal to empty Gaza of its inhabitants and turn it into a tourist zone seriously violates international law. The forced displacement of populations in time of war is prohibited by the Geneva Conventions and constitutes a crime against humanity. In response, Arab leaders have proposed an alternative Gaza reconstruction plan, worth $53 billion, to enable Palestinians to remain in their region and rebuild their lives on their land.
