This project is part of a context of&nbsp;<strong>strong urban growth<\/strong>&nbsp;in Dodoma, now at the heart of Tanzania&#8217;s development strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Msalato, a strategic alternative to Dodoma airport<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faced with the&nbsp;<strong>geographical limitations of the current Dodoma airport<\/strong>&nbsp;, the Tanzanian government launched the construction of&nbsp;<strong>Msalato International Airport<\/strong>&nbsp;in 2022 , designed to accommodate&nbsp;<strong>international flights<\/strong>&nbsp;with modern infrastructure. This is a&nbsp;<strong>major lever for strengthening the economic attractiveness<\/strong>&nbsp;of the capital and supporting its administrative growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Modernized road infrastructure for better integration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first component of the DIST project concerns the&nbsp;<strong>modernization of three key road axes<\/strong>&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dodoma\u2013Morogoro (32.1 km)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dodoma\u2013Iringa (4.1 km)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dodoma\u2013Arusha (8.5 km)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These axes will enable the&nbsp;<strong>integration of Msalato airport into the national logistics network<\/strong>&nbsp;, thus facilitating the&nbsp;<strong>flow of passengers and goods<\/strong>&nbsp;, particularly between Dodoma and Arusha, an important regional diplomatic centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A structuring project with diversified financing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>total cost of the airport project<\/strong>&nbsp;is estimated at&nbsp;<strong>USD 329.47 million<\/strong>&nbsp;, with&nbsp;<strong>joint participation<\/strong>&nbsp;from the&nbsp;<strong>Tanzanian government<\/strong>&nbsp;, the&nbsp;<strong>African Development Bank<\/strong>&nbsp;, and the&nbsp;<strong>Harmonious Development Fund (AGTF)<\/strong>&nbsp;.<br>Delivery&nbsp;<strong>of the first phase<\/strong>&nbsp;of the project is expected&nbsp;<strong>by the end of 2025<\/strong>&nbsp;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tanzania is banking on Msalato Airport to support the development of its capital, Dodoma, as part of a gradual transfer of administrative functions. With financial support from the World Bank, the country intends&nbsp;<strong>to improve urban and regional connectivity<\/strong>&nbsp;while consolidating its logistics infrastructure.
