In a statement published on <strong>X<\/strong>, the rebels asserted that their fight relies solely on <strong>the support of the Burundian people<\/strong> and not on external aid. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A verbal attack on Burundi&#8217;s Head of State<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview on <strong>March 25, 2025<\/strong>, <strong>\u00c9variste Ndayishimiye<\/strong> claimed that <strong>Rwanda was preparing an offensive against Burundi<\/strong>, using <strong>the DRC<\/strong> as a rear base and supporting <strong>RED-Tabara<\/strong>. The group&#8217;s military spokesman, <strong>Patrick Nahimana<\/strong>, responded sarcastically: <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;How can Rwanda support us when it is in advanced negotiations with Burundi? If we had outside support, Ndayishimiye wouldn&#8217;t be here grumbling all day.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rebels accuse the Burundian President of looking for <strong>a scapegoat<\/strong> to divert attention from the <strong>country&#8217;s internal problems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rwanda denies any involvement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to Burundi&#8217;s accusations, the <strong>Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/strong> denied any support for <strong>RED-Tabara<\/strong> and pointed out that the two countries were pursuing <strong>diplomatic efforts<\/strong> to ease tensions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister <strong>Olivier Nduhungirehe<\/strong>, in a message published on <strong>X<\/strong>, found these statements <strong>regrettable<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;The military and intelligence authorities of both countries are in discussion and have agreed on the need for military and verbal de-escalation.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion: a climate of persistent tension<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite official attempts at rapprochement between <strong>Bujumbura and Kigali<\/strong>, tensions remain <strong>high<\/strong> between the two nations. <strong>Burundi<\/strong> &#8216;s recurrent accusations and <strong>Rwanda&#8217;s rebuttals<\/strong> maintain a climate of mistrust, making a genuine easing of bilateral relations uncertain. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A categorical rejection of the Burundian President&#8217;s accusations The Burundian rebel group RED-Tabara has firmly rejected the allegations made by President \u00c9variste Ndayishimiye, who accuses Rwanda of supporting their movement.
