This funding, provided by the National Treasury, aims to support local production of clean energy vehicles and batteries, as well as the manufacture of spare parts. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A major tax incentive for manufacturers<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of this initiative, the South African authorities have introduced a 150% tax deduction on investments made by manufacturers of electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles. This measure is in line with the White Paper on Green Mobility published in 2023, which aims to convert part of the national vehicle fleet to electric motors by 2035. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A strategic position in the global automotive market<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With annual production of over 500,000 vehicles and the presence of major manufacturers such as Toyota, Ford, Isuzu, Volkswagen and Mercedes, South Africa is consolidating its key role in the automotive industry. In 2023, this sector generated over 400 billion rand in exports, representing around 5% of national GDP. However, over 70% of this production is destined for international markets, particularly in Europe.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion: A bet on the future of the automotive sector<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this investment and attractive tax incentives, South Africa aims to accelerate the transition to cleaner vehicles, while strengthening its competitiveness on the global market.
