These partnerships aim to promote sustainable development, protect the marine environment and strengthen gender equality in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cBahari Yetu\u201d Agreement: 11 million euros for marine conservation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first agreement, called&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Bahari Yetu&#8221; (Our Ocean)<\/strong>&nbsp;, has a budget of 11 million euros and will be implemented in Zanzibar by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The main objectives of this project are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Empowering local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by creating sustainable economic opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protect marine biodiversity<\/strong>\u00a0and promote ecosystem-friendly fishing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fight against plastic pollution<\/strong>\u00a0, which seriously threatens marine resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This initiative highlights the importance of a balance between economic development and environmental preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gender and leadership: 3 million euros to strengthen women&#8217;s rights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second agreement, worth \u20ac3 million, will extend the&nbsp;European Union&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Gender Transformative Action Programme to Zanzibar.
