A crisis at the top of FECOFOOT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) is going through a period of turbulence, marked by growing protests surrounding its president, Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas. Dismissed at a general assembly held this week, Mayolas refuses to give up his position and continues to hold on to the head of the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A controversial general assembly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 27 September, a General Assembly was organised by the \u201cCollectif des membres de l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de la Fecofoot\u201d with the aim of dismissing Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas. However, this initiative was criticised by FIFA, which had asked to suspend the Assembly due to concerns over forged signatures and political pressure, particularly between Mayolas and the Minister of Sports, Hugues Ngouelond\u00e9l\u00e9. Despite this, the Assembly decided to dismiss Mayolas and set up an ad hoc committee to manage the affairs of the federation and organise new elections within 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mayolas&#8217; response and FIFA&#8217;s involvement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to this dismissal, Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas, supported by his Executive Committee, called an Extraordinary General Assembly for 4 October, under the observation of a joint FIFA and CAF mission. This move highlights an open conflict over the legitimacy of FECOFOOT&#8217;s leadership. FIFA has already warned Congo of the risk of suspension if political interference continues, while supporting Mayolas for the time being and refusing to recognise the dismissal decision taken at the 27 September Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Towards a standardization committee?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the parties in conflict fail to reach an agreement, FIFA could consider setting up a normalisation committee to ensure transitional management of the federation. This possibility remains on hold, pending the progress of the discussions and decisions taken by the FIFA-CAF mission sent to Brazzaville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congolese football is in an institutional impasse, with a divided Federation and a contested president.
