Gabon-Congo: Launch of Works on the Ndendé-Doussala Axis
A Strategic Project for the Libreville-Brazzaville Corridor
Gabonese Head of State Brice Oligui Nguéma recently kicked off construction of the 49-kilometre Ndendé-Doussala road. This road, located on the strategic corridor linking Libreville to Brazzaville, is a key step in the Gabon Infrastructure Sector Support Project (PASIG) .
This project is part of a regional vision of connectivity between Gabon and the Republic of Congo, with partial financing provided by the Central African Development Bank (BDEAC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Technical Details: Two Complementary Lots
Lot 1: Road Infrastructure
The first lot, awarded to the Chinese company Syno-Hydro, includes:
- Asphalting and development of 49 km of road.
- Construction of a bus station with rest area in Ndendé.
- Construction of a 2 km bridge over the Ngongo River to connect the road networks of Gabon and Congo.
- Installation of optical fiber , strengthening digital connectivity.
Lot 2: Related Projects
The second lot, managed by the Gabonese company Unik BTP, focuses on social and economic infrastructure:
- Construction of 8 water boreholes and a multifunctional center .
- Establishment of a market , a daycare center , and renovation of 3 clinics and 3 schools .
- Supply of 5 agricultural equipment kits and installation of 5 public solar lighting systems .
Economic and Social Impact
According to Flavien Nzengui Nzoundou, Gabonese Minister of Public Works, this project is a major lever for economic development :
- Creation of 500 direct jobs , boosting the local economy.
- Improving trade flows between Gabon and Congo.
- Strengthening the quality of life of populations thanks to new infrastructures.
- Boosting economic and social exchanges between the two nations.
