CAN 2025: Algeria and Togo end with a victory

Algeria concludes the qualifiers undefeated

Already qualified since the 4th day, Algeria made an impression by largely dominating Liberia (5-1) during the 6th and final day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers. This victory, obtained at home, allows Vladimir Petkovic’s men to finish undefeated and consolidate their place as leader in Group E.

Despite a complicated start to the match with Dweh’s quick opening goal for Liberia (6th minute), the Greens quickly reversed the trend. Aïssa Mandi first equalized in the 20th minute, followed by Riyad Mahrez , who gave his team the lead in the 29th minute. In the second half, Algeria rolled out thanks to goals from Baghdad Bounedjah (64th), Amine Gouiri (74th) and Amoura in added time (90th + 5). This reassuring performance caps off an exemplary campaign for the Fennecs.

Togo saves honour with first victory

For its part, Togo made a point of finishing on a high note. Already eliminated from the race for qualification, the Hawks beat Equatorial Guinea 3-0. The Togolese took the lead thanks to a double from Annor (14th and 87th) and a goal from Denkey (54th). With this success, Togo recorded its only victory in the qualifiers and finished in 3rd place in the group, behind Algeria and Equatorial Guinea, who won the two tickets for the final phase.
